In its many years of development, this practice-oriented sport has produced a wide variety of Ryu systems, which serve the sole purpose of self-defense and integrate most of the techniques of Far Eastern martial arts. The training includes punches, kicks, throws as well as throwing, holding, leverage and nerve techniques with and without weapons, both standing and on the ground. Special emphasis is placed on basic techniques.
